Luckly for us Brits, racquet sports and dance can be performed indoor, so when the weather is bad, we can enjoy them too, as well as an indoor swimming pool which is heated. So let’s check out what options we have in Swindon.
- Oasis Leisure Centre
Your children can stay nearer the edge as if on a sea shore, or get under the shoot of water spray as the waves die down, and the play area is completed with a pirate ship for toddlers and a teaching pool, making for a great value afternoon. It’s great when you find a pool that makes you feel as if you were in a tropical oasis, but ideal for smaller children as well, so just follow the crowd, the horn will let you know when the wave machine is about to start! And in case you are looking for a gym or you’re new to exercise, they can help you reach your fitness goals with its enormous array of sports along side the gym, as there is something to suit all interests and abilities. Note that swimming pool lockers take 20p, while parking is free of charge.
- Dorcan Recreation Complex
Situated in the East of Swindon, they encourage individuals to participate in activities.
- The Ridgeway Leisure Centre
The sports hall can be booked, and there is a family membership for those planning to enjoy use of all the facilities, with no ties, including swimming pool, badminton courts and a wide variety of classes. Refurbished in 2014, the fitness suite has running machines and bikes so make sure you bring your head phones, while the pool is 25 metres in length and the 2 squash courts can be hired out in 30/40 minute slots. Children under the age of 16yrs can be added to the memberships for an addition £5.00 per month, while 3yrs can be added at no extra cost.
- Cricklade Leisure Centre
Whether you fancy something inside or outside, this excellent sport complex includes: a child-friendly Swimming Pool, a multi-purpose Sports Hall, a well-equipped Fitness Suite, a Bar, a coffee shop two floodlit synthetic grass Tennis Courts, two Squash Courts, as well as 3 on site football fields and a skateboard park for your enjoyment. This is the place to manage and improve yourself and the surrounding area, as they have grown the membership year after over the last 10 years of their development. You may want to have a look at the program and the cost-effective membership, as the Centre was saved from closure by the local community and they will be delighted to welcome you and your family.
- Blunsdon House Hotel
Blunsdon House’s swimming pool is ideal for a few lengths before dinner, so if you are staying at the hotel make sure to visit the pool and create some memories you will never forget. If you fancy a dip, this indoor swimming pool with a length and width of 10m comes with a separate toddler pool for the full relaxation experience.
